It hasn't.
Not yet, in any case.
I think it's likely that the disaster was on such a scale that reality here has been warped.

Thank you for checking in.
[ he's too much of a mess right now to process this and what it makes him feel, but— it's something significant. his gratitude is far more sincere than he would expect. (too many times as a child hiding from raised voices and wondering why no one else seems to hear.) and he needs to regain his composure somehow, so: ]
We must have been loud.
Sorry to disturb you.

Think nothing of it. :)
It's important to stand as a unified front, and even more important to stand up for what's right.
And you were absolutely right.
[ he considers leaving it at that, and then hesitates. since his fight with Ren, he's been holed up in his quarters, restless thoughts and hands winding him tighter and tighter while he tries to avoid the things he can't confront. if he doesn't do something to slacken that tension soon, he'll snap. talking about it is out of the question, and putting himself to work will only make it worse, with the weight of judgement on his shoulders.
if it weren't Venus who texted him, he wouldn't have thought about it. and if it weren't Venus, he wouldn't consider it. but performance is easier around her for some reason, maybe just because she's an oddity herself, or because she's too lenient in her kindess; it's the difference between walking a tightrope and standing on a stage. ]
Actually, Venus-san,
About those drinks we took from the bar.
I wondered...
If you'd be amenable to sharing?

However when emotionally strained, the teenager may remain on radio silence for some time, and follow that silence with a considered, but ill-advised overtures to others who are on less than amiable terms with them, especially when the subject is the cause of the aforementioned emotional strain.
No one ever said Ren was a smart kid. ]
Hey. Haven't seen you for a bit, so I wanted to check in.
[ He mentally pats himself on the back for not saying wow, you actually picked up. ]

it's always the same. life here is... always the same. he wonders if this kind of cyclical punishment is a personal hell, if he really is here just to suffer.
so he picks up the call when Ren makes it, because it doesn't matter one way or the other. he does sigh at that greeting, though; playing nice as if the last time they spoke wasn't over the dead body of a woman who is now walking around unharmed. as if the time before that, Ren hadn't managed to make something in Akechi snap that he has yet to be able to repair, and left him to wallow in his pathetic behaviour.
his voice is even now — and perfectly, perfectly flat: ]
Really.

I'm not sure how I actually feel about it, though.

[ he's sitting across from her, watching her process with some interest; a few months ago, he likely wouldn't have taken much notice of it, and his attention would have been faked. but ever since she started teaching him the technical side of things, he's started to pay more mind to the rest of it, considered the value of the skill and even the worth of just having something to do with his fucking hands all day long.
he isn't trying to soften his expression any, either. the more time he spends with Erika, the less he bothers. ]
I suppose the question is how we were brought here in the first place. If it's some kind of uncontrolled rift in reality, then it seems unlikely that a repeat of the incident would send a person "home." But if it's a direct link between where we are and where we came from... Well, it's not impossible.
